Cooking new potatoes directly in heavily salted water leaves them creamy on the inside and crispily salty on the outside. Combine that with a sauce that balances sharp garlic and vinegar against sweet peaches, leavened with aromatic herbs, and I’m in summer heaven.
A fitting way to celebrate late summer: sweet peaches and blueberries melded in to a bright magenta filling, topped with sweet spiced biscuits. Great for Labor Day, or just for Thursday.
When the summer stone fruits are at their peak, it’s hard to imagine doing anything with them other than eating them over the sink. But if you can possibly hold a couple of nectarines or peaches back, try this salsa. It’s sweet and refreshing, but also has a sharp grassy spice from the Hatch chiles.
